Baisic of crane c hook, main structure, daily maintenance, how to control self-balance, introduction of safety inspection

 The Crane c hook is a type of crane spreader, mainly used for the horizontal lifting of the coil. Because its shape resembles the surface C, it is called a Crane c hook. It is widely used in hot strip mills and cold strip mills of steel plants, and is also suitable for the lifting of various types of rolls at stations, freight yards, terminals, and large steel coil users.

The main structure

Crane c hook is mainly composed of hanging concrete and weighted iron.

  • 1. Hanging concrete: The main part of the Crane c hook is made of steel plate (high-quality low-alloy steel) and steel pipe. The cross-section is a box-type structure, which has good resistance to bending and torsion. The spreader has light weight and long service life.
  • 2. Counterweight iron: plays a role in adjusting the balance of the spreader so that the center of gravity of the spreader and the lifted object is in one line.

How is the Crane c hook self-balancing?

  • First, the length of the C-shaped hook and the opening of the hook opening should be determined according to the size (length and maximum diameter and bore diameter) of the suspended coil. And determine the location of the hook hanging point.
  • The C-hook is subjected to the upward pulling force of the hook and the force acting on the weight of the coil and the weight of the spreader downward. The force of the coil acts on the center of the coil. The self-gravity of the spreader acts on the center of gravity of the spreader.
  • The weight must also be considered. The counterweight is a C-hook that can reach equilibrium when unloaded.
  • The section at both corners is affected by the shear force and bending moment. When calculating, the self-weight may not be considered. The safety factor shall be 6/7 times. According to the calculation of the cantilever beam, the bending stress of the section at the corner is calculated according to the material mechanics formula. The ratio of the allowable bending stress of the material to the calculated bending stress is the complete coefficient. When calculating the stiffness, it is necessary to calculate the deflection (deformation amount) of the hook end and also calculate it by the cantilever beam.
  • The allowable deformation can be calculated by dividing the length of the cantilever beam by 350. The vertical section of the spreader is mainly subjected to tension. According to the tension calculation, the tensile stress is equal to the gravity of the coil divided by the cross-sectional area. Dividing the yield stress by the tensile stress just before is the safety factor. Take 6-7. 
  • The plate thickness should not be less than 10mm. According to the weight of the coil, the structural section should be determined. If the weight is small, the I-shaped section can be used, and the reinforcement can be added. The weight can be increased by using the box section and the reinforcing bar.
  • The corner radius is 200. Above, to increase the strength, the calculation of the hook head also mainly considers the tensile stress and the size of the hook.

Selection of standard and type of coil spreader

When selecting standards for coil hook spreaders, it is necessary to include the coefficients of the application methods that are affected by the scale, component, shape of the lifted load, and the hoisting method to be used, etc., in the accounting thinking, and the request for the limit work force given together. It is necessary to think about the clean environment and the variety of loads. It is necessary to select the slings of the proper length that satisfy both the ability to meet the application methods. If multiple slings are used together to lift the load, it is necessary to use the same type of slings; the raw material for the flat slings cannot be subjected to To the environment or load impact.
Routine maintenance
After using, the Crane c hook must be placed on a dedicated shelf, stored in a ventilated, dry, clean factory building and kept by a dedicated person.
The surface of Crane c hook should be protected against rust, and it must not be stored in acids, alkalis, salts, chemical gases and humid environments.
The Crane c hooks must not be stored in high temperature areas.
Periodically clean the rotating parts and regularly apply lubricating oil to prevent dry friction and seizure.

  • 1. Human-driven lifting mechanism, experiment with 1.5 times the rated load as inspection load
  • 2. Power-driven lifting mechanism, experiment with 2 times rated load as inspection load
  • 3. After the hook is removed from the inspection load, there shall be no obvious defects or deformations, and the increase in the opening degree shall not exceed 0.25% of the original size.
  • 4. The qualified hook should be printed in the low stress area of the hook, including the rated weight, factory or factory name, inspection mark, production number, etc.
