Gantry Crane Operation Precautions

 Gantry crane is widely used for efficient material handling in variously places and industries. Usually, only the qualified crane operators are allowed to operator the gantry crane to ensure the safety of the crane and related working staffs. In order to ensure the gantry crane operation safety, in the following, the gantry crane operation instruction of outdoor gantry are presented for the sale of gantry crane safety.

1. Before operating, carefully check the electric, mechanical and safety device of the gantry crane. If the brake, limit switch, bells or emergency switches have problems, the gantry crane operation is forbidden.
2. The operator of the gantry crane should strictly follow the signal, the crane should be stopped immediately based on any person’s emergency request
3. The operation of the gantry crane must be after the command signal, and bell first
4. When the hook or trolley or gantry crane approaching the limit position, the speed must be slowed down, reversing can not be taken position of brake.
5. Operator should move on the specific walkway, laddle. It is not allowed to walk on the crane traveling rail or trolley traveling rail, it is not allowed to jump from one crane to another.
6. When stop working, the gantry crane is not allowed to hang the goods in the air. Among operation, if there is any person nearby or the goods is approaching the ground, operator should bell first. It is forbidden to move the goods across people, when transferring, the goods should near to the ground based on safety
7. When two cranes lift one good together, the operators should follow the commander, be united in action.
8. As moving, gantry cranes should be kept enough space from another
9. As maintenance, the cranes should be stopped at the safety place, cut off the power, put on warning signal ”Forbidden to Power on”, put ground fences, and hanging on” No Entry”
10. If goods is very heavy, gantry crane operator should make one attempt lift first, after confirming lifting is steady, brake works well, then lift up and slowly speed up. It is forbidden to operation three control panels of the gantry crane at the same time.
11. Among crane operation, it was forbidden to walk up and down. Also not allowed to maintenance and adjustment among operation.
12. If suddenly power outage among crane operation, the on and off panel should be put at the “0” position, the operator is forbidden to leave the cabin before the lifting goods down on the ground or spreader off from hook.
13. Among operation, if the lifting material decline due to some accident, the emergency method should be taken, the gantry crane should be moved to the place where there is no any person nearby
14. When storm, lightning, or wind more than level 6 is happening, the gantry crane should not be operated, cut off the power, pad should be placed to prevent the crane traveling.
15. There must be adequate light when operation at night
16. Before operating the gantry crane, there should be no obstacle on the rail, when lifting big size material, there should be specific person on the ground to guide the operating.
17.  Operator must follow below 10 forbidden :

•  Overload lifting
•  Command signal not clear, lifting goods weight not clear, light is not enough
•  Lifting bundle is not packed firmly, or not comply with the safety rules
•  Lift goods direct to processing
• Inclined pulling
•  Upon the lifting material standing people or other living animals
• Oxygen bottles, acetylene generators and other explosive items
•  Some Angular gap is not well packed
• Lifting material is buried into the ground
• Liquid or fluid containing overfilled

    18.       When the operation work is finished, the crane should be placed at the specific place, hook is at upper position, trolley moved to the track ends, put the control panel at “0” position, and cut off the electric power source.
