Hoist Cranes Safety Measures under Dust, Humid, Hot and Cold Conditions

In the special environment with dust, humidity, high temperature or cold environment for the hoist crane, except for conventional safety measures, special methods should also be considered to adapt to the use of special environment to ensure the crane safety.

Crane safety measures in dust environment

In the dust environment in the operation of hoist crane should consider the following crane safety measures:

• A: Fully closed cabin should be used to protect the driver's personal health.
• B: crane motor and main electrical protection level should be increased accordingly, usually hoist crane motors and electrical protection level is IP44. According to the size of the dust degree should be correspondingly increase the sealing performance, such as protection (mainly dust capacity) level increased to IP54 or lP64.

Crane safety measures in humid environment

Under normal circumstances, the working environment humidity is not more than 85%, and the protection level of the hoist crane is IP44, but at present due to more and more occasions of humidity more than 100%, such as at nuclear power plant with high pressure water is used to flush nuclear equipment dust pollution, so the protection level of the heavy equipment must be increased.

• When humidity is between 85% and 100%, the hoist crane motor and electrical protection grade should be IP55.
• In the humid environment, the motor of 10kW or above should be added with a preheating and drying device.
• When electric hoist crane motor is working in the open, rain cover should be added.

Crane safety measures in high temperature environment

• A: The operator cabin should be equipped with electrical fan or AC
• B: Motor windings and cover should be designed with thermistor temperature control device, when the temperature exceeds a certain limit, power shut down automatically or add strong cooling measures (usually add a special electric fan on the motor) on the motor

Crane safety measures in cold environment

For used in cold environment hoist crane should have the following security measures:

• A: Using the closed type operator cabin, the driver's room should be provided with heating device.
• B: Timely remove the ice on the ladder, track, or walkway.
• C: Low alloy steel or not less than Q235-C of ordinary carbon steel (in - 20 DEG C) material should be used.
