Gantry crane design concept

The Horizontal bridge is disposed on two legs which constitute a gantry crane.

This gantry crane is working by traveling rails on the ground, mainly used in open-air storage yard, docks, power plants, ports and railway stations and other places for cargo handling and installation operations.

Gantry crane hoisting mechanism, trolley traveling mechanism and bridge construction, are basically same with bridge crane. Because of long span, gantry crane are usually used by respective driven way to prevent the crane producing skewed running and increasing the resistance, and even accidents.

• The relation between span and cantilever Cantilever takes up 1/3 of the span because when the load in the span middle the maximum bending moment is close to the maximum bending moment when the load in the cantilever sid. • How many node number of the frame?Generally it is even number. The horizontal angle of the diagonal of a single internode is 40 degrees -45 degrees

Gantry crane design on legs

Gantry crane trolley is running on a bridge, and a lifting trolley is just like a boom-type cranes. Full gantry crane systems

Full gantry crane design is the most popular gantry crane system, which —consisted of two legs that ride on crane rail, embedded flush with the top surface of the floor. The full gantry cranes typically run in a straight line in a designated work area. This type of gantry crane design highly utilizes the space underneath of the gantry crane girder between the legs making the scissor lifts, fork lifts, carts, and trucks or other lifting equipment cross the crane possible.

Semi-gantry crane systems

The semi gantry crane design refers to the gantry crane system with one leg riding on one leg running on rail on the ground and the other leg is replaced by riding on a rail on a rail supported by the building columns or a side wall of the building structure. The semi gantry crane design can save you floor space / work space.

Portable gantry crane systems

Portable gantry cranes are designed for smaller and lighter-duty material handling. The portable gantry systems run on casters or rubber wheels, which makes the gantry crane flexible and portable to move throughout a facility to handle various materials or loads.

Ordinary gantry cranes

The gantry crane for general use is the  most versatile gantry crane.  It can carry a variety of items and bulk materials, the weight of below 100 tons, a span from 4 to 35 meters. gantry crane with grab has higher working class.

Station gantry cranes

Station gantry  crane is mainly used for lifting, opening and closing the shutter, but also used for installation. Lifting capacity from 80 to 500 tons, the smaller span from 8 to 16 meters; lower lifting speed from 1 to 5 m / min. This lifting crane, though not often used, but once it working, it is frequent and heavy used, so the working class should be higher.

Shipbuilding gantry crane is used for berth assembled hull, standing with two lifting trolley: one with two main hook, running on a bridge flange track; another has a primary hook and an auxiliary hook in running on the bottom flange of the rail bridge, in order to flip and lifting large hull blocks. Weight is generally from 100 to 1500 tons; span of 185 meters; lifting speed from 2 to 15 m / min, and from 0.1 to 0.5 m / min JOG speed.

Container gantry crane is used for container terminal.
