Crane operation safety tips to avoid crane accidents

Notice to Crane Operators

  • Crane operator must be trained specially, passing examination by the relevant department issued certificate of approval, then the driver can be allowed to operate crane machine. It is strictly prohibited that unlicensed personnel operating crane equipment.
  • Before operating crane, the crane operator must check all parts and devices to make sure they are all in right condition. The steel wire rope, brake, hydraulic device, and safety devices are needed to be checked to ensure they are reliable and flexible. Crane is forbidden to be started if there is any problem with any part.
  • Crane operator must cooperate with command person and follow his signal guidance. Crane operator must honk before starting crane. Once commanding signal is not clear and wrong, the crane operator can reject to execute. During working time, any person must obey crane operator’s emergency signal, remove unsafe factor.
  • When crane lift object, it should be keep vertical. Don’t pull object forcibly. Don’t lift diagonally.
  • When crane is lifting a rated capacity, don’t use another controlling method to operate, only one control method is permitted. Don’t lift object which is buried in ground or stuck on ground.
  • If crane is close to any power conductor, it must keep far from it. Rainy or foggy weather, distance should be more than 1.5times of safe distance.
  • Don’t lifting overloading. If two cranes work together to lift one object, there must be one guide to command. Their lifting and dropping speed must be in accordance. The lifting weight should be lower than 75% of each crane’s rated lifting capacity. Each crane bearing loading not more than 80% of Max. Capacity.
  • During working, maintenance and adjusting is prohibited.
  • Object is forbidden to lift in air once crane is stopped.

Notice to Crane Command Staff

  • Guidance signal should be confirmed with crane operator in advance. If during operating, the signal is not clear, there should be a transferring person to convey.
  • Command gesture and signal must be clear, command shouldn’t wear gloves.
  • Before lifting object, check wire rope, precise lifting point, lifting object can’t be twist, curve, drop and slanting.
  • Driver can’t leave duty before object is on ground and placed well.
  • Driver can refuse to lift overloading object, command staff must reduce the weight.
