Components of crane control systems

Dongqi crane control systems comprise a hand held radio remote crane control (two with some brands), a charger and a receiver. The radio remote transmits the signal and command that you have selected which is instantly received and transferred into the controls of the crane or hoist by the receiver to carry out the task instantly.

Hoist control inspections

Before operating an electric hoist, it is critical to check the electric hoist controls. If an electric hoist control is not properly labeled or is not working correctly, people can get injured and loads, and the surrounding environment can be damaged. When inspecting electric hoist controls, the following two aspects needs to be noticed: the overall condition of the hoist control, including clear markings and labels, and the functioning of the hoist controls.

Condition of electric hoist control condition

Before operating an electric hoist, i the condition of hoist controls, including the pendant housing, buttons, and cables should be checked to look for cracks, loose wires, and frays, and anything that appears to be abnormal or unsafe.Specific areas to be checked presented in the following hoist control drawing:

If any of these issues or other unsafe conditions are detected on the electric hoist pendant, the electric hoist should be taken out of duty until the hoist pendant is repaired.

Checking Electric hoist Control Buttons: Markings & Operation

Control buttons should be inspected to make sure they are labeled clearly and correctly. This inspection is one of the pre-operational inspections which should be conducted before using a powered electric hoist.

Warnings before testing the pendant’s operation

  • Ensure the area under the electric hoist or crane is clear of obstructions.
  • Make sure there is no one under or in the path of the electric hoist, including yourself.
  • Do not put loads on the electric hoist during this test.
  • If the limit switch fails, make sure you do not run the bottom block into the electric hoist, drum or trolley. This action can damage the electric hoist. Please note that some electric hoists do not have limit switches.
  • Be prepared to stop the electric hoist by releasing the controller.

Once you have taken these safety precautions, you are ready to operate and test the electric hoist controls. Follow the procedures to check for proper operation: First, you need to verify the markings on the pendant are correct – that “up” moves the electric hoist up and “down” moves the electric hoist down.

  1.  Test that the trolley controls move the trolley left or right as indicated on the pendant buttons.
  2.  Test the bridge to ensure it moves as specified on the pendant.
  • – Check any warning devices on the pendant as well, if applicable. For example, horns, an indicator light, etc.
  • – Make sure hoist controls were not modified or safety features were not disabled. T Do not operate any electric hoist with modified hoist controls.
  • – One suggestion: labeling hoist controls with “north,” “south,” “east” and “west” instead of “left’ and “right” to avoid any confusion.
  • – All functions of the electric hoist must work properly and as marked on the pendant. If not, the electric hoist must be taken out of work.

Once you have ensured the hoist controls are clearly marked and functioning properly, you are ready to operate your electric hoist. If there is any doubts on hoist controls and hoist control inspections, please feel free to contact us.
